The Rotary Club sponsored the purchase of over 350 plants to support the endangered El Segundo Blue butterfly.

Organized by the El Segundo Blue Butterfly Conservancy, with generous donations from Chevron and the El Segundo Rotary Club, dozens of volunteers, including a team from Chevron, Rotarians, local Scouts, local members of the National Charity League, members of the City of El Segundo Environmental Committee, and Parks & Recreation employees, planted hundreds of plants along Imperial Ave in El Segundo to restore native habitat.

Scouts from several South Bay troops and packs showed up in shifts to help with the habitat restoration along Imperial Ave in El Segundo.

Over the course of two days, and with generous donations from Chevron and the El Segundo Rotary Club to purchase plants, dozens of volunteers were able to plant hundreds of plants along the hillside of Imperial Ave. between Hillcrest St. and Loma Vista St. in El Segundo in an effort to restore the native habitat and support the endangered El Segundo Blue butterfly. Plants installed during the first phase of the habitat restoration, in February, are already beginning to bloom during the second round of planting a month later.
